front of the gite

Welcome to our holiday rental in South-West France

Our beautiful Gite, simply named Le Gite no 2 is located in Le Vigeant, department Vienne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Your hosts are Mark and Agnieszka, and, between us, we speak English, French, Polish and a little German.  We are here to make your stay with us happy and relaxing, while you create wonderful memories!  We live next door to the Gite and therefore, should you need help, we are on hand 24/7. Please have a look at our website and contact us if you have any questions.

Our Place

The Gite comprises two bedrooms (one double and one twin-bedded), open plan living with kitchen. TV, free Wi-Fi, sofa, oven, hob, fridge, microwave, toaster, etc. There is also a wonderful shower room with a walk-in shower, wash-hand basin, and toilet with an amazing, totally French, and quite unique cistern (non-other than the George IV Hotel in Paris have acquired these for some of their sumptuous rooms). Outside you have your own gated forecourt, with ample room to park two vehicles, and, at the rear of the property, which is south facing, you have a secluded and very private back garden, with garden furniture, a patio and traditional charcoal barbecue.

Location and surroundings

If you are looking for a restful, quiet, and tranquil location, then Le Gite No 2 is most definitely for you. The area is amazing for walking and cycling and if water is your thing, then look no further than the nearby River Vienne with the impressive L’Isle-Jourdain viaduct. We are surrounded by old, beautiful streets and traditional, french houses. All amenities are very close by and within walking distance, with several cafes, restaurants, supermarkets, a pharmacy, and, within just a two-minute walk, there is a pizzeria which sells fresh baguettes every morning and just a three-minute walk away is the town’s electric vehicle charging station. On Saturdays there is a town market across the river in L’Ile-Jourdain. The nearest railway station is 20 minutes away, in Lussac-les-Châteaux, with trains to Poitiers and Limoges. There are two airports 50 minutes away, and a pick-up and return service can be arranged at an additional cost.

Things to do

Our region offers a lot for every age. On the river Vienne you can find (in the height of summer) kayaking, water skiing, wakeboard, and a water ski school and more. Close by there is a newly refurbished outdoor swimming pool with water slides, tennis courts, horse-bike riding, bungie jumping from the viaduct, an amphitheatre (with concerts through the summer), zip wire, electric cross scooters and electric bikes for hire.

Famous Circuit du Val de Vienne racetrack its only 2.6 km away, Floating Village, Futuroscope theme park, Valley of the Monkey : all and more within 55 min drive.
